Hi, I'm Usimele, the founder of Basimele Handylady. My journey began in 2010 as a personal DIY hobby, where I discovered my passion for transforming spaces through furniture restoration, wall painting, and home organization. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a refined skill set, fueled by a love for design and hands-on craftsmanship.
My expertise grew further when I worked as a visual merchandiser for a leading fashion retail chain. There, I mastered layout design, power tools, advanced painting techniques, and the art of precision. These experiences deepened my understanding of spatial aesthetics and functionality, laying the foundation for what would become Basimele Handylady.
A decade later, my passion turned into a professional business dedicated to enhancing residential and commercial spaces across Johannesburg. Guided by the philosophy “A brighter space equals a brighter mood,” I am committed to delivering excellence, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail in every project.
The name Basimele was inspired by my belief that women can excel in traditionally male-dominated industries. My goal is to empower and inspire other women to develop these valuable skills. While I remain at the heart of the business, Basimele is about more than just me—it’s a vision of collective growth. I see a future where a team of skilled women and men collaborate to provide top-tier services, redefining what’s possible in this industry.
At Basimele Handylady, we don’t just enhance spaces—we empower individuals and transform possibilities.
